NetDocuments is what OTB refers to as a traditional matter-centric DMS and EMS (Email Management System). NetDocuments users associate a matter-centric profile to each document and/or email as it is stored in the firm’s cloud-based document and email repository. Each document or email is coded with attributes like client, matter, document type, author, and/or typist. Once profiled, the NetDocuments users can use these attributes to quickly retrieve the documents by searching, for example, “all correspondence in the Jones case authored by TLR.” All documents and emails are also full-text indexed as they are entered into the repository so that full-text searches can be quickly performed.
